French Toast Crunch cereal review

 The french? Pretty cool. Toast? Love the stuff. Crunch? It's a must. French Toast Crunch is an american favourite and seems to be a childhood staple. I have never been a child in America so for me it wasn't, yet my expectations were still high. You know there's a problem when you've had the cereal version of something before the actual thing. Yes, thats right. I've never had french toast. But who cares when you've got this ! I will confess though that I have tried this before in my favourite of places- The Cereal Killer Cafe! That was ages ago though and I've forgotten. So, in a recent trip to the US I picked up a box, along with many other cereal goods.

 If there was a prize for cutest cereal this would win hands down, wouldn't it? Oh my gosh is this cute , I want to look at it all day. Opening the box I was met with the heavenly scent of maple and cinnamon. It was a smell that reminded me of a new love that I had discovered on my trip- pancakes! It smelt like it was going to taste of pancakes and this had me excited. I try a couple of pieces dry , ignoring the bit of guilt I felt for eating something so darn adorable. The flavour was strong and I knew it could only get better with milk, so in it went.

 It's a rare occasion when something is better than you remember but this was. The first time I had it I thought it was good but this time- OH MY GOSH is it good! It tasted just how it smelt, with the combination of syrup and cinnamon making the perfect pair. As mentioned, I've never had french toast but I'm sure its resemblance would be admirable. As for texture , the crunch was perfect and held strong throughout. As you get further down it gets a slightly slimy outside, but in a super nice way that you find with other cereals.

So I ate it pretty quickly and was left with what I would like to trademark "Maple Milk". This wasn't the sort of cereal I thought would leave good cereal milk but DAMN. The flavour transported right into it. It was as if the cereal flavour was all like "Beam me up , Scotty." and the milk was like "Sure thing man."

I can see why this cereal was so popular and I'm very happy the good people's demands have been met with its return. Now if they could just go ahead and make pancake crunch then that would be cool.

Chocolate Toast Crunch cereal review!

I have waited a long time for this. Ever since trying-and falling in love with-Peanut Butter Toast crunch , I knew I had to try the chocolate version. So when I managed to get my hands on this I was very excited.

 Eagerly opening the box and having a sniff, I was met with a strong smell of cocoa , this was very promising. I mean just look at that dusting! On this journey of cereal self discovery , I have come to realise that I am very fond of a dusty cereal. I tried a single piece dry,teasing myself. I knew the flavour wouldn't be as strong on it's own. The solitary square was underwhelming, little chocolate flavour and almost had a savoury aftertaste. I had not given up hope tough,as with the PB Toast Crunch- this was only one square.

I poured in the milk and scooped up a big spoonful of this long awaited cereal. HOLY MOLY THIS IS GOOD. The chocolate flavour was so rich and powerful , eating it I felt like a sophisticated adult ;all I needed was a glass of red wine and a velvet dressing gown and I was set. The hint of cinnamon , comes on queue , right at the end and takes this to the next level! This dark chocolate flavour combo paired with the signature texture and crunch makes for the perfect chocolate cereal. It almost felt like I was eating chocolate biscuits, just lighter and better.

Not to mention this whopper! Do not fear for the roof of my mouth , I have had many years of training to deal with this situation.

You're probably wondering about the milk. If you're in the unofficial cereal fan club , you know the milk is important. Well, this does not disappoint. The milk welcomes the sugary dusting like it's long lost family - and the reunion is delicious.I also feel like this version holds up better in milk, but maybe that's because I ate it so fast , it didn't have a chance to get soggy.

The only variety I haven't tried is Frosted Toast Crunch. Please let me know in the comments if you've tried it and think it's worth a go :)

Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal review

Cinnamon Toast crunch.One of Americas's favourite breakfast cereals. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw these single serving pots in Poundland! The cereal gods were with me and I grabbed a pot along with the US version of Froot Loops- the proper version with all the colours and bad stuff. These pots were a pound each ( surprising huh?) and they also had a frosted wheat version, but that bored me haha.

In the UK we have Curiously cinnamon , which is exactly the same without the claim of any toast. Iv'e recently come to love curiously cinnamon and I myself was a curious cinnawoman as to how they would compare.The US version has more sugar , so I was anticipating a nicer cereal .Obvs.

Well it looks the same. I followed common cereal tasting practice and tried a bit dry. Great texture,great cinnamon flavour and a unique toasty taste which was nicely different.When milk was added and I scooped a big spoon it got even better. The crunchiness was perfect and the toasty flavour mixed with the cinnamon was great. However, in all honestly they weren't much different from the UK'S own and I think I actually prefer curiously cinnamon. One thing that is the same is their ability to stay crunchy in milk. Unfortunately , they are quick to sog but the flavour is still reeeaaaaal good!

You are left with a speckled, cinnamon flavoured milk, which is as delicious as it sounds. If you've never tried cinnamon toast crunch or curiously cinnamon then go out and buy a box because I doubt you'll regret it!
